چکیده

Qualitative results Experiments Conclusion Problem: fragmentation, tortuosity and SNR are severe challenges for curvilinear structure detectors. Key contribution: new ridge detector, SCIRD: orientation, scale, contrast and curvature invariant. Results: SCIRD outperforms state-of-theart HCFs on corneal nerve fibres and neurites data sets. Future: to combine SCIRD with context filters (R. Annunziata et al., MICCAI2015)

Towards Robust and Efficient Automated Curvilinear Structure Detection in Medical Images

Segmenting dendritic trees and corneal nerve fibres is challenging due to their uneven and irregular shape. Our first contribution is a novel ridge detector, SCIRD, which is rotation, scale and curvature invariant [2]. Then, we present a novel feature boosting method combining hand-crafted appearance features with learned context filters. Experimental results on 3 challenging and diverse datase...

A fully automated tortuosity quantification system with application to corneal nerve fibres in confocal microscopy images

Recent clinical research has highlighted important links between a number of diseases and the tortuosity of curvilinear anatomical structures like corneal nerve fibres, suggesting that tortuosity changes might detect early stages of specific conditions. Currently, clinical studies are mainly based on subjective, visual assessment, with limited repeatability and inter-observer agreement. To addr...

Einstein structures on four-dimensional nutral Lie groups

When Einstein was thinking about the theory of general relativity based on the elimination of especial relativity constraints (especially the geometric relationship of space and time), he understood the first limitation of especial relativity is ignoring changes over time. Because in especial relativity, only the curvature of the space was considered. Therefore, tensor calculations should be to...

Usually, state-of-the-art interest point detectors tend to over-represent the local image structures associating several interest points for each local image structure. This fact avoids interest points to clearly stand out against its...

Detecting Intrinsically Two-Dimensional Image Structures Using Local Phase

This paper presents a novel approach towards detecting intrinsically two-dimensional (i2D) image structures using local phase information. The local phase of the i2D structure can be derived from a curvature tensor and its conjugate part in a rotation-invariant manner. By employing damped 2D spherical harmonics as basis functions, the local phase is unified with a scale concept. The i2D structu...
